Having fresh grass included in your landscape design can be beneficial, but it may be difficult if your home doesn't come with a lot of property. If you want to enjoy the smell and feel of fresh grass without laying sod in a large area, here are three small-scale turf projects you might want to consider adding to your landscape in the future.
1. Update pathways to include grass.
If you have no available yard space, you will need to get creative when it comes to incorporating turf into your landscape design. Fortunately, you can easily include grass in your existing pathways to add some greenery to your landscape design.
Growing grass between paving stones is actually quite simple. All you will need to do is rip out your existing pathway, and install pavers to create a new pathway. Leave enough open space between each paver for grass to grow, and plant grass seed (or lay strips of sod) into these open spaces. You will have a small-scale turf project that will have a large impact on your landscape design.
2. Create a small mosaic using turf and stone.
You can add both style and greenery to a small yard by combining turf and stone to create a mosaic. This project is simple, and requires that you use your imagination. A simple design you might want to consider is a spiral mosaic.
Invest in some strips of sod, and lay these strips in a circular pattern that spirals inward. Line the outer edges of the sod with stones to complete the mosaic design, and you will have a unique small-scale turf project to show your friends and family members.
3. Incorporate sod stepping stones into your landscape design.
If you don't want to care for large tracts of grass, adding some sod stepping stones to your landscape design could be a viable solution. You can use faux grass if you don't want to be bothered with the maintenance of live sod, or you can use square pieces of sod to mimic the look of stepping stones.
By incorporating these small pieces of greenery into your yard, you will be able to enjoy the look and feel of grass, without the hassle of maintaining a large yard.
Finding small-scale ways to incorporate turf into your landscape design can be beneficial if space is limited in your yard. Consider adding grass between the pavers of your pathways, using sod to create a spiral mosaic, or using either faux turf or real turf squares to create green pavers for your outdoor living space in the future.Share
