Terri took her time training my Karah. She didn’t rush. That’s why the farm’s motto is “Taking the Time to Do it Right!” She was firm, patient and consistent. As a result, I have a dependable, affectionate, well-trained companion without any vices. She’s a constant joy! As well as being a great recreational ride, Karah was a formidable show horse. She and Terri cleaned up at the horse shows in the Maritimes, Ontario and Quebec. They were pure poetry in the ring! When Karah came back from Ontario as Eastern Canadian Breeders Purebred Hunter Pleasure Reserve Champion, I almost burst with pride. After that triumph, we retired her from the show ring so I could spend more time with her. (My horse is suited for showing but I’m not.) I was an elementary school teacher for 35 years, so I know a good teacher when I see one. Terri sets high standards for herself. She is constantly trying to improve herself both as a rider and instructor. She was good when she started teaching and she’s grown even better over the years. One of the things I like most is that Terri explains the reasoning behind her instructions. You can remember better when you know why you’re supposed to do something. I’m unable to ride now because of my health, but I enjoy sitting in on lessons. I’m hoping to ride again in the future and I don’t want to forget too much. I learn a lot from just listening to her talk to her students. Many people have asked me why I’m willing to board my horse 50 minutes from Dartmouth. The answer is simple. My horse is worth it! The board is reasonable and it's a pleasant drive. There’s an indoor area, an outdoor ring and trails for hacking. The barn is clean and the horses are out every day that the weather is fit. Glenice and Terri have developed a feeding program that is the best I’ve come across. (I’ve boarded at 5 other barns.) They pride themselves on providing a balanced diet suited to each horse’s individual needs. I can attest to that because they worked hard to keep weight on Katie and even harder to keep Karah from putting on too much. They take pride in their healthy horses. The bottom line is that my Karah is a very happy horse. I wouldn’t dream of taking her anywhere else.
